We’ve added a new feature to brewvu.com that will allow you to add brewvus by email.

Why would you want to add a brewvu by email? Well, since we do not have a mobile app yet, you can now add brewvus directly to the site simply by emailing a specific brewvu.com email address. This works really well from mobile devices or even on your computer if you want to easily send a brewvu without logging into or accessing the site.

If you want to use this feature, you first need to add your email address to your user settings (we need to know who you are when you email). Make sure you’re logged in and then click the little settings gear at the top of most brewvu pages.

Once you have your email address correctly assigned you can start using this feature.

Using the email that you have tied your account to, simply email:

Attach the beer photo that you want to add and use the Subject line for the text of the tweet. The server will check that inbox every few minutes and when it finds your email, it will add it to the site and tweet it out to all of your twitter followers.

You are restricted to 119 characters in the subject line because we will be tweeting a link for you. But if you go over that we will still preserve your whole message on the photo’s brewvu page. So this method can also serve as a “tweet longer” type of application as well.
